Thread or Wax — Your Choice
Both techniques shape your brows. Both cost $24. We do both, and we'll match the technique to what suits you.
Eyebrow Threading
Uses a twisted cotton thread to lift hairs from the follicle in a clean row. More precise than waxing, doesn't pull on your skin, and works well for sensitive skin, retinol users, and rosacea/eczema. It's our default recommendation.
Eyebrow Waxing
Uses a small amount of warm wax to remove a row of hair quickly. Faster than threading for very dense brows, and some clients simply prefer the feel. Less precise on individual hairs, but excellent for clean lines and dense regrowth.
When you book, you can specify which you want — or ask your therapist on the day. Both are done by the same team, to the same standard. Want a deeper read? See our blog post on eyebrow threading vs waxing.
Does Eyebrow Threading Hurt?
Honest answer: threading isn't pain-free, but it's quick.
Most clients describe it as a brief stinging sensation along the brow line that fades within seconds. The whole appointment takes 5 to 7 minutes for standard brows.
Clients with sensitive skin often find threading gentler than waxing because there's no pulling on the skin itself — only the hair gets lifted out. By your second or third visit, you'll barely notice the sensation. The first time is always the most sensitive.
Tips to make it easier
- Avoid threading right before your period — skin is more sensitive then
- Skip caffeine an hour before if you're particularly sensitive
- Don't take painkillers beforehand — they're not needed, and they thin the blood which causes more redness
How Long Does Threading Take at Iconic?
Most appointments: 5 to 7 minutes. That's not a rushed appointment — that's the speed our therapists work at after thousands of brows. Threading is a fast technique when done by someone who's practised.
For brows with heavy regrowth or full reshaping (first appointment after months of growth), allow 12 to 15 minutes. Full face threading takes around 15–20 minutes.
This matters because most threading kiosks run 15–20 minutes per brow. We're faster and more accurate — because the people doing it have done it thousands of times.
Why Choose Iconic for Eyebrow Threading
How We Thread Your Brows
Consultation
We look at your natural brow shape, listen to what you want, and recommend the shape that suits your face. Under a minute.
Shaping
The threading itself. Around 5–7 minutes for brows, longer for full face. Your therapist lifts hairs out cleanly.
Tidying
Stray hairs removed, brow line cleaned up. Tweezers handle anything outside the threading area.
Finish
Soothing aloe applied to calm any redness. You're done — back to your day in well under 15 minutes.
Aftercare
Threading leaves your skin slightly raised in the immediate area. To get the best result:
- Don't touch your brows for the first hour — hands carry bacteria into open follicles
- Skip makeup on the brow area for the rest of the day
- Avoid heat (steam rooms, saunas, hot showers on the face) for 24 hours
- Avoid swimming pools and direct sunlight for 24 hours
- Skip exfoliants and retinol on the brow area for 48 hours
- A dab of aloe or unscented moisturiser overnight helps any residual redness
Regrowth takes 2–4 weeks depending on your hair cycle. Most clients rebook at 3 weeks.
Eyebrow Threading FAQs
How long does threading last?
Hair regrowth is typically 2–4 weeks. With consistent threading, regrowth slows over time and hair grows back finer.
Is threading better than waxing?
For brows — usually yes. Threading is more precise, doesn't risk wax burns, and is gentler on the delicate eye area. But we offer both, and it comes down to what suits you. For larger body areas, waxing is faster (available at our salon).
Can men get their brows threaded?
Yes, regularly. Men's brow threading shapes without feminising — we tidy strays and define the natural line. Many of our regulars are men.
Will threading damage my hair follicle?
No. Threading removes the hair from the follicle without damaging it. Hair grows back normally on its natural cycle.
Can I thread if I've had Botox?
Wait at least 7 days after Botox before threading. The pressure isn't dangerous, but waiting protects your settled result.
Do you take walk-ins?
Yes at both locations. Appointments are guaranteed slots; walk-in availability depends on the day. The kiosk near Myer is usually the faster walk-in option.
How is threading different from tweezing?
Threading removes a row of hairs in one motion — tweezing is one at a time. Threading is faster, more precise, and results are more even because you're not chasing individual hairs.
