Strip wax
Fast and efficient for larger areas — legs, arms, back. Warm wax is spread thin and lifted away with a strip, clearing a wide section of hair in one motion. Ideal where speed and smooth coverage matter.
Hot wax
Gentler for sensitive and intimate areas — Brazilian, bikini, underarm, face. The wax sets and grips the hair itself rather than the skin, so it lifts coarse hair with less pull. More comfortable where skin is delicate.

Does waxing hurt?
Honest answer: there's a quick sting as the hair lifts, strongest on your first visit and on coarse or intimate areas. It fades within seconds, and most clients find it far more bearable than they expected — especially with an experienced therapist who works quickly and doesn't linger.
It genuinely gets easier. After a few regular waxes the hair grows back finer, there's less of it, and the sensation drops right off. Most clients settle into a four-to-six week rhythm and stop thinking about the discomfort entirely.
Make your wax more comfortable
- Book for mid-cycle if you can — skin is more sensitive just before your period
- Let hair grow to about a grain of rice (5mm) — too short and the wax can't grip
- Gently exfoliate the day before to free any trapped hairs
- Skip caffeine and alcohol beforehand — both heighten sensitivity
- Avoid retinol on the area for a few days before, especially for facial waxing

Keep your skin smooth and clear
A little care in the first 48 hours prevents irritation and ingrown hairs — and keeps you smooth for longer.
- Avoid heat for 24 hours — no hot showers, saunas, steam rooms or sunbeds
- Skip the gym and heavy sweating for 24 hours, especially after a Brazilian
- No swimming pools, spas or direct sun for 24 hours
- Wear loose, breathable clothing after intimate waxing
- Start gentle exfoliation after 48 hours to prevent ingrown hairs
- Moisturise daily with a fragrance-free lotion
- Rebook at four to six weeks — regular waxing means finer, sparser regrowth
Common questions
How long should my hair be before waxing?
About 5mm — roughly a grain of rice, or two to three weeks of growth. Too short and the wax can't grip the hair; too long can make it more uncomfortable. If you're unsure, come in and we'll advise.
How long does waxing last?
Most clients stay smooth for three to six weeks depending on their hair cycle. With regular waxing the regrowth slows and comes back finer, so you can stretch the time between appointments.
Does a Brazilian wax hurt?
There's a quick sting, strongest on your first visit. We use hot wax for intimate areas because it grips the hair rather than the skin, which is more comfortable. Our therapists do Brazilians daily and work fast — most clients are surprised how manageable it is.
Is waxing hygienic at your salon?
Yes. We never double-dip, use single-use spatulas, and apply fresh wax for every client. All body and intimate waxing is done in private treatment rooms at the salon near Big W.
Can I wax if I use retinol or acids?
For facial and sensitive-area waxing, stop retinol and strong acids for three to five days beforehand — they thin the skin and increase the risk of lifting. Let your therapist know what you're using.
How do I prevent ingrown hairs?
Exfoliate gently a couple of times a week starting 48 hours after your wax, keep skin moisturised, and wax regularly rather than shaving in between. Consistent waxing is the single best way to reduce ingrowns over time.
Do you offer men's body waxing?
Yes — back, chest, shoulders, arms and legs. We don't offer men's intimate or private-area waxing.
Do you take walk-ins?
Booking ahead is best for body waxing so we can allow the right time in a private room, especially for Brazilians and full-body appointments. Walk-in availability depends on the day.
