Quick answer: Yes, we wax men. Iconic Brow Wax N Beauty — the salon near Big W at Westfield North Lakes — offers men’s body waxing for the back, chest, shoulders, stomach, arms and legs, plus men’s brow shaping at both our locations. Men pay the same prices as everyone else off our standard price list — no “men’s surcharge”. One thing to know upfront: we don’t offer men’s intimate or private-area waxing.
More blokes wax than you’d think
If you’re reading this wondering whether it’s weird to book a wax as a guy — it isn’t, and you won’t be the first one through the door that week. Back and shoulder waxing is one of the most common requests at our salon. Cyclists and swimmers book legs. Gym regulars book chest and stomach. Plenty of men just don’t like the feel of a hairy back in a Queensland summer, and fair enough.
Shaving these areas is awkward (try reaching your own back), grows back as stubble within days, and tends to cause ingrowns. Waxing pulls the hair from the root, so you stay smooth for three to six weeks — and with regular waxing the regrowth comes back finer and sparser.
What we offer for men
All men’s body waxing happens at Iconic Brow Wax N Beauty, our full salon near Big W — in a private treatment room, not a curtained corner.
- Back — half or full, including shoulders
- Chest — with or without stomach
- Stomach
- Arms — half or full
- Legs — half, three-quarter or full
- Underarms
- Nostril and ear
And at both locations — the salon and our kiosk near Myer — we do men’s brow shaping. Not the sculpted, high-arch look. Just a clean-up: separating the monobrow, tidying the strays, keeping the natural shape. Most men are in and out in under ten minutes. More on that on our eyebrow threading page.
What we don’t offer
We don’t do men’s intimate, Brazilian or private-area waxing. That’s a deliberate decision about what our team is comfortable providing, and it’s firm — please don’t ask on the day. Everything from the neck down to the waistband and from the thighs down is fair game.
What it costs
Men’s waxing runs off the same price list as all our body waxing — there’s no separate men’s menu and no surcharge for coarser hair. Current prices for every area are on our pricing page, and there’s a full breakdown of how body waxing works on our body waxing service page.
Does it hurt? (Honest answer)
There’s a sting — sharpest on your first visit, and back and chest hair is usually coarser than what women’s waxing deals with, so we won’t pretend otherwise. But it’s quick. An experienced therapist clears a full back in minutes, the sting fades in seconds per strip, and almost every first-timer says the same thing afterwards: “that was way better than I expected.”
It also genuinely gets easier. By your third or fourth wax the hair is finer, there’s less of it, and the whole thing becomes routine.
How to prep
- Let it grow. Hair needs to be about 5mm — a grain of rice — for the wax to grip. If you’ve been shaving or clippering, give it two to three weeks.
- Don’t trim before you come in. We’ll trim it on the day if it’s too long. Too short is the problem, not too long.
- Shower beforehand. Clean, dry skin waxes better, and your therapist will appreciate it.
- Skip the pre-wax beers. Alcohol and caffeine both heighten skin sensitivity.
Aftercare in one paragraph
For 24 hours after: no gym, no hot showers, no pool, no sunbeds, loose shirt over a freshly waxed back or chest. From 48 hours: gently exfoliate a couple of times a week and moisturise — that’s what prevents ingrowns. Rebook at four to six weeks and the whole cycle gets easier each time.
Men’s waxing FAQs
Do I need to book or can I walk in?
Book ahead for body waxing — back, chest and leg appointments need proper time in a private room. Brow shaping at the kiosk takes walk-ins most days.
Will the therapist judge me?
No. Our therapists wax bodies all day, every day. A hairy back is a Tuesday, not an event.
How often should I come back?
Every four to six weeks. Stick to waxing rather than shaving between visits — shaving in between resets the coarse regrowth and brings the ingrowns back.
Can I get my back and chest done in one appointment?
Yes, that’s the most common men’s booking. Just select both when you book and the right time is allowed automatically.
Why don’t you offer men’s intimate waxing?
It’s a service-scope decision our team has made, and many salons make the same one. Everything else on the body waxing menu is available to men.
