“I’ll have a Brazilian” is the most common thing we hear at the salon, and about a third of the time, once we talk it through, the client actually wants something else. The names are used loosely online and every salon draws the lines slightly differently. Here’s exactly what each one means at Iconic, what it costs, and how to pick.
The three options, side by side

Hot wax on all three. Same private room, same therapist, same aftercare. The only differences are how much comes off and how long you’re on the table.
Bikini Line: $28
The tidy-up. Your therapist removes hair from the sides of the bikini area and along the top, so nothing shows in swimwear or regular underwear. Nothing is removed inside the knicker line.
Best for: first-timers who want to see what waxing feels like, anyone who just wants a neat edge for the beach, and people who prefer to keep most of their hair.
Time: 10 minutes. Pain: the mildest of the three. The sides are less sensitive than the centre.
G-String: $40
A step further. Everything that would show in a G-string comes off: the sides taken in further, the top, and the area underneath and between the legs. Hair at the front is left but usually shaped and trimmed so it sits neatly.
Best for: people who want to be clean for swimwear and underwear but keep hair at the front. Also a good middle step if you’re working up to a Brazilian.
Time: 15 minutes. Pain: moderate. The underneath section is the sensitive part.
Brazilian: $55
Everything off. Front, labia, underneath, and between the cheeks. If you want to keep a small strip or triangle at the front, say so and we’ll shape it. Many people assume a Brazilian means a strip is left; at Iconic, a Brazilian is bare unless you ask otherwise, so tell us what you want and there’s no confusion.
Best for: anyone who wants to be completely smooth. Our most-booked intimate wax by a long way.
Time: 20 to 30 minutes the first time, 15 for regulars. Pain: the most of the three, but with hot wax and a fast therapist it’s over quickly, and it gets much easier after the first couple of visits. Read what to expect at your first Brazilian.
What about a “Hollywood”?
Some salons use Hollywood to mean everything off and Brazilian to mean a strip left. At Iconic, a Brazilian is everything off, and a Brazilian with a strip is still a Brazilian, same price. If you’ve been getting a “Hollywood” elsewhere, book a Brazilian.
How to choose
- Never been waxed before? Bikini line or G-string is a gentle start. Plenty of people go straight to a Brazilian and are fine, but there’s no prize for it.
- Wear G-strings or high-cut swimwear? Bikini line won’t be enough. G-string or Brazilian.
- Want zero maintenance between waxes? Brazilian. Bikini line and G-string leave hair that you may still want to trim.
- Not sure? Book a Brazilian and tell your therapist on the day. Downgrading is easy. It’s harder to add more once you’re dressed.
Prep is the same for all three
Let hair grow to about 5mm, roughly two to three weeks after shaving. Exfoliate gently in the week before. Book mid-cycle if you can, because skin is more sensitive just before your period. If you’re doing legs too, the Legs + Brazilian package is $100 and Arms + Legs + Brazilian is $135. The $165 Full Body Wax does not include the intimate area, so add a Brazilian if you want everything. All prices are on the price list. We don’t offer men’s intimate waxing.
Common questions
Is a G-string wax the same as a bikini wax?
No. A bikini line wax only removes hair outside the knicker line. A G-string wax also takes the sides in further and removes hair underneath and between the legs, leaving a reduced patch at the front.
Does a Brazilian wax include the back?
Yes. At Iconic a Brazilian includes between the cheeks. You don’t need to book it separately.
Can I keep a strip with a Brazilian?
Yes. Tell your therapist and we’ll leave a strip or triangle at the front. Same price.
Which hurts the least?
Bikini line, then G-string, then Brazilian. The centre and underneath are the most sensitive areas, so the more that’s removed, the more you’ll feel it. All three get easier with regular waxing.
How often should I book?
